Rainforest Gully – Tobruk Memorial Drive Park

Rainforest Gully is approx. 1.5 hectares of remnant dry rainforest situated within Picnic Point Parklands, Rangeville. Rainforest Gully is between Picnic Point and Tobruk Drive Lookout, along Tobruk Memorial Drive.  It is State heritage listed as part of Picnic Point Parklands and mapped as Endangered Ecosystem 12.5.6 under the Vegetation Management Act.

In previous years, there has been plantings by various school groups, and some of the vegetation is not indigenous to the area. Toowoomba Regional Council has maintained this bushland area to some extent, but more weed and vegetation management is required. This is a new FEP park and bushland regeneration work is starting now in 2026.

A walking track zig zags through the forest from top to bottom, with stone paved creek crossings. Picnic and toilet facilities are located nearby.

Volunteers meet fortnightly on the 1st and 3rd Friday of the month, 8.30 – 11am followed by morning tea. The meeting place is at the Rainforest Gully Trailhead sign on the right, down Tobruk Memorial Drive just after the picnic and toilet facilities.
