Each year, communities across Australia come together to celebrate Planet Ark’s National Tree Day—the country’s largest tree planting and nature care event. Since 1996, this day has been a cornerstone of our region’s environmental calendar, with Toowoomba leading the way through energy, enthusiasm, and hands-on action. The event is delivered in partnership between Toowoomba Regional Council and Planet Ark, with Council choosing to host it later in the year to protect newly planted trees from frost.

National Tree Day is more than just planting trees. It’s an opportunity to get outdoors, reconnect with nature, and contribute to a greener, healthier future. This year’s planting site has been carefully chosen to help expand the tree canopy in our suburbs—bringing cleaner air, cooler streets, more homes for wildlife, and stronger, healthier neighbourhoods. Over 3,000 trees will be planted as part of our commitment to growing Toowoomba’s urban forest.
