Tree Keepers Forum

Tree Keepers Forum

Do you want to see more trees and wildlife habitat protected across the Toowoomba region? Do you want to see housing developments alongside bushland corridors to maintain our garden city charm?

Join Protect Trees Toowoomba for a special community meeting next Wednesday May 21st at the Highfields Tavern 6pm-7.30pm to discuss the opportunity for the new Toowoomba Regional Council planning scheme to start to protect our region’s precious green spaces, wildlife corridors, and significant trees.

The planning scheme is being drafted NOW! This year is a key opportunity to shape the future of our suburbs—and we need your voice to make sure the message is clear: our trees matter.

Speakers include:
🦜 Scott McPhie – Bird expert and environmental advocate
🏛 Deputy Mayor Rebecca Vonhoff – Insight into the planning process
🌱 Ahri Tallon – DDEC Coordinator

Together, we’ll explore:
✅ The opportunity for change in the new planning scheme
✅ The community-led solutions we’re proposing
✅ How you can help your area become a ‘Tree Keeper Community’
✅ A clear, practical strategy to grow our movement and protect what we love

The Protect Toowoomba Trees group have a vision for how we can engage the community to mobilise support for a balance between development and keeping the trees that give our neighbourhoods the ‘garden city’ charm all across the Toowoomba region.

For the earth,

Ahri Tallon
Darling Downs Environment Council
Coordinator
