Following our recent cultural burn at Amaroo Environmental Education Centre, we are inviting our wider community to join us for the next step in our ongoing work to care for and connect with Country.
Heal Our Bushland! BioBlitz 2026 will be held on Saturday 5 September, from 1:00–3:00pm at Amaroo EEC.
The afternoon will focus on weed removal, bush regeneration and biodiversity observations across our bushland. It is an opportunity to come together as a community, learn more about our local environment and play a practical role in supporting the regeneration and long-term health of this special place.
This event is part of our ongoing commitment through our Centre Environmental Management Plan (CEMP) to build meaningful community involvement in caring for Country. We see the cultural burn not as a single event, but as part of a longer journey of learning, connection and responsibility. By returning to Country, observing what is changing and taking action together, we can continue to support the bushland and strengthen our community’s relationship with place.
We would love to extend the invitation to your students, families, staff and wider school community. No previous bush regeneration experience is needed – our aim is simply to learn, work and care for Country together.
What to bring:
- Long sleeves and long pants
- Closed shoes or boots
- Hat and sunscreen
- Reusable water bottle
- Gardening gloves, if you have them
All equipment and guidance for the afternoon will be provided.
